Our Mission

To develop, revitalize, maintain, and protect the heritage and recreational use of Stark Park as an historic asset of the City of Manchester.

About Friends of Stark Park

Friends of Stark Park had its beginning in April 2004 when a group of citizens met with city officials to voice their concerns and wishes for Stark Park.

Effective August 23, 2003, RSA 4:13-1 reads as follows:
RSA 4:13-1 General John Stark Day. The governor shall annually proclaim the fourth Monday in April as John Stark Day and shall urge cities and towns throughout the state to observe this day in commemoration of General Stark's gallant and illustrious service to New Hampshire and his country.

The first annual observance was held April 26, 2004. A proclamation by Mayor Robert Baines was given. The ceremony featured a procession led by the NH Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Colonial Color Guard dressid in period uniform. They were accompanied by children from the John Stark Society of the Children of the American Revolution. Members of the John Stark Regional High School in Weare, NH led the gathering in the Star Spangled Banner. Members of the Molly Stark Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution also attended.
